‘Happy Hooker’ Tackles Death - Not Sex - In Latest Book

AMSTERDAM (Wireless Flash) – Former madam Xaviera Hollander established herself as a sex expert with her infamous book The Happy Hooker 30 years ago. But these days, she’s studying an altogether different topic: death. Hollander is just about to release a memoir, Child No More (ReganBooks), about her harrowing childhood in an Indonesian prison camp and her parents’ deaths. The 58-year-old sexologist says her agent never thought the book would sell in the U.S. because, as she puts it, “You can’t have the Happy Hooker now coming out with a book about death.” But Hollander did land a deal and says the memoir is a hit with women over forty. As she explains it, “All my fans from the Happy Hooker days have also grown up. They can’t just be sex maniacs all their lives.” Child No More hits bookstores June 4 along with a special 30th anniversary edition of The Happy Hooker.
