The Doodlers Revenge
The Doodlers Revenge
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) Heres proof it pays to slack off: Artist Rebecca Miller got canned at a textile mill for doodling on the job, but now shes making more money than ever as a professional caricature artist. They told me to hit the streets, so thats what I did, says the artist, who now cranks out up to 30 big-headed caricatures an hour for up to $25 a pop at street fairs and parties. Miller takes just two minutes on each sketch, and attributes her speed to a photographic memory that helps her remember facial features easily. Although the doodler loves her new-found career, it hasnt always been easy. She says early on in her sketching days, she had a male customer rip his picture up right in her face because he didnt think the sketch was flattering. Since then, Miller has learned to accentuate the positive in her pictures for example, making fat folks thinner.
