a study of the Cheuvront Family in America
    My Grandfather was a Cheuvront.
In the late thirties his cousin, J.Howard Cheuvront, began to compile documents and stories from members of the Cheuvront and Cookman families and had this information printed into small books.  The project was one that had been initiated by another relative, W.L. Cheuvront, and during the summer of 1972 he distributed  A Brief History of the Cheuvront Family in America amongst the Cheuvront family members.  In late August of that year my Grandfather presented his daughter--my mother--with copies of these books.
What follows is a transcript of that text.

Editorially my Mother and I have tried to check and double-check dates and places, add links and references where possible, and our comments appear within brackets with highlighted text [like this].  Other than that, and except for omitting a few repeated items, J.Howard's text has been copied essentially verbatum.

It can be a very moving experience to read through the records of one's ancestors, as anyone who has spent time researching a family tree knows. My intent in making this site was not only to provide information, but also to acknowledge the patience and efforts of my relatives in accumulating these histories.

My hope is to honor them somehow by doing this.

    ~L. Raff
