In November of 2000, I received an email from Shelley Cardiel in Washington State, who had found an old photo album containing a few identified portraits of the Cheuvront/Covert families. Her hobby is reuniting these old albums with surviving family members, which she proudly told me is an incredibly rewarding pasttime. The album itself held only a few pictures, but what images remained
have been scanned and partially identified. In addition to the photos,
a delicate fern leaf rested at the back of the album, pressed between the
last two pages.
