Cheuvront notes here that "these are all descendants of Aaron(2)
Cheuvront through his son Joseph(3).
The repetition of names gets very confusing. The family...consisted
of Lemuel, Sylvester, Moses, Andrew, Joanna, and Caroline.
They were all said to have settled in Nebraska."]
After the close of
the Civil War, Lemuel and Moses Cheuvront, both soldiers in the Federal
Army, moved to Lincoln, NE in 1872, where they each had rather large families.
Lemuel's daughter was a Mrs. Mattie Davis of Chicago, and his grandson
was Raleigh Cheuvront of Miami FL and Chicago IL.
Isaac(3)
[Aaron(2)'s son] married Catherine
Childers, with his grandfather Joseph Cheuvront officiating, and [their]
children were: Aaron(3),
Martin, Marion ("Moll"), Matilda, Sarah, Margaret, Priscilla, and
Phoebe. There are many descendants of these in Wirt and Roane
Counties Va. and other states.

1: Morris Cheuvront
(s/o Caleb and Rebecca Covert Cheuvront) married
Harriet M. Preston of Bridgeport, WVa on Nov. 6th, 1844. She was
a first cousin of "Newt" Wilkinson and a niece of "Aunt Sally" Washburn
of Good Hope. [Morris
and Harriet] have six children buried in the Cheuvront row of Old Bethel
Cemetery, five of whom died at birth and are buried in unmarked graves.
Their living children included:
James Ellsworth
["Ellsworth"], Benjamin(3), George(2),
Charles(2), Belle, and Mary(3).
Their eldest son
Ellsworth declined to go with his parents [when they moved] to Illinois
and [he] remained with Caleb and Rebecca. After most of the children
were married Morris and Harriett moved [again to] Kansas where they both
lived to a good old age.
Ellsworth and George(2)
were the only members of their family who left any descendants with the
Cheuvront name. George(2) reared
his family in Illinois while Ellsworth stayed and married Joanna Cottrill
[daughter of Luther Cottrill] on June 30,
1879. They had one son, Ellsworth(2)Jr.,
who later married Luna Moffet of West Milford Va. Ellsworth(2)Jr.
and Luna had two children, Pauline ( who married a Richardson and was a
schoolteacher in Clarksburg), and Chester E. Cheuvront, a notary public
of West Milford. Ben died childless and Charles(2)
died unmarried in CA.

text was this entry:"(Morris, Caleb's son) borrowed $1,000 from John Lodge's
father, and Caleb signed the note as a security, thinking Morris paid the
note when in 1858 he sold his farm to "Buffalo Jim"
James Burnside and moved to Illinois." Later, after his death, Caleb's
estate paid the note to Mr. Lodge.]
