Basically the purpose of WOD Competition is the following:
1) Combine an immersive, competitive Deathmatch experience with the
"rock and roll" adrenalin rush of the Weapons of Destruction mod.
2) Allow serious WOD players to hone their skills by using only those
weapons that have to be aimed to be used effectively.
3) Improve the performance of servers by reducing the lag generated
by banned weapons.
4) Reduce the confusion that players have when joining a new WOD server
and being faced with a new set of "fragbans, weaponbans, dmflags and featurebans"
(e.g. why aren't my frags being counted when I use weapon x). By
using similar settings across servers, players will know exactly what to
expect when they enter a server that says, "WOD competition".
5) Make clan matches easier to schedule, because the server configurations
for Comp WOD don't need to be negotiated beforehand, modified for the match
and then put back into their original state.
6) Allow Comp WOD players to be ranked together on a "level playing
field" by CLQ .
7) Allow players a greater range of freedom in playing WOD.
| The purpose of WOD Comp is NOT to force
one style of play on WOD players and server
admins. There should be and hopefully always will be havens of chaos where players can enjoy the full spectrum of WOD weapons. By creating two distinct CLQ gametype categories for WOD and WOD Comp, players will have the ability to play two distinct styles of WOD and be ranked separately in each! This allows more choice and freedom for players which can never be a bad thing. |
