Changes in the Rigging

As noted in yesterday's entry, I've been doing a bit of housecleaning around this site. Over the past week or so, I brought the "who", "why", and "how" pages in line with the format used elsewhere on this site, rather than the one from the first bunch of entries.

As of when I upload this entry, I'm also removing the background image from the front page. This is because it never did very much anyway (you might not have even noticed that there was a little background image there), and, I discovered last week, it showed up as purple on the Mac I was using.

I'm not entirely certain why that happened, but that is most assuredly not what I'd had in mind. The front page is supposed to be blue. I'm a primary color sort of person. So the image is gone, and the background color has been set so that it's just about the same color as said image was, on my system.

While I was at it, I added two more pages. The first is just a collection of all the "Bouts Rimes" written herein so far, with the poem titles and authors added, for good measure. The second is a bunch of "Lists of Five." You'll understand once you see it.

I'm probably going to strip away most of the font tags from the really big calendar in the archives, just to save on loading time. Which is a bit of a pity, 'cause it looks better as-is, but having to define the font in every single cell... well, it almost doubles the file size.

As implied above, I've been spending more time in the Mac lab on campus. I even took out Macs for Dummies from the public library on Friday, skimming through it on Saturday. Even learned a couple of new things.

The only thing about the Mac that I'm not quite sold on is the mouse. I hate mice. (Or "mouses," technically, some claim, but that just sounds silly. "Mice" will do.) Even in Windoze, there's very little I can't do exclusively via the keyboard. My assumption -- or, at least, my hope -- is that the same holds true for the Mac, but it'll take a bit of time for me to learn all the relevant keystrokes. But as long as the keystrokes do exist, I'm okay with that. I am, after all, used to DOS.

Anyway, I'm a bit tired, so I think I'm going to stop here and try to get some sleep.
