Eddie are you okay? Are you okay? Are you okay, Eddie?

(Damn you, Jen. Now I've got it stuck in my head.)

Jen, Cookies, Etc.

You know, I had an entry almost done about a week ago, but I never quite got to finishing and uploading it.

Part of this is that, as guilty as I feel about not updating (and I do), wanting to update also makes me feel kinda guilty. If I have time to update my journal, how busy can I really be? It's as if I'm publically admitting that I really do have time for the myriad other projects I'm either doing late, or not managing altogether.

This is a somewhat perverse way of looking at it, especially as it really doesn't make much difference in my (in)ability to finish everything else on time.

I just can't believe I'm gonna have entries from three different months on my index page, once I upload this. That's just ridiculous.

On the bright side, I did get around to adding a couple of pages to the index last week. One's a link to my search page; the other has links to all the entries with surveys and stuff. The master plan is to put all of my entries into categories eventually, so that when I finally get back to one of the myriad topics I've promised to get back to, it'll be easier to see what I've written on the subject previously. Not that I have time for that now, of course.

Anyway. Just because I don't have time to write doesn't mean you won't have anything to read. I told a Real Life friend about this journal a few months ago, and she's gone ahead and started one of her own. She's been fiddling with it for the past week or so, and I have the honor of introducing it here. You, lucky readers, have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor!

True to my usual journal-reading habits, she's female (obviously), she's close to my age, and she's a writer. She's also a New Yorker, even if she happens to have an address in New Jersey. Her journal reminds me of Monique's, actually; it's something about her writing style, and her ability to make almost anything entertaining.

Her name's Jen, her journal is Om Mani Padme Hum, her writing style is great, and I advise you to check it out now. Yes, now. Go on; she has over a week's worth of entries up already, so there's lots of good reading, but not so much that you can't read the whole thing.

Oh, and this just in as I type this, via AOL Instant Messenger (which I've given in and downloaded, surely a sign of the Apocalypse)...

"Jen says Hi to Shmuel's Loyal Readers, and wishes she could bake you all some nice cookies. But not with walnuts. Because some of you might be allergic to walnuts, and it would be a Bad Thing if all of your heads started to swell. Then you couldn't read me or Shmuel, and we'd be sad."
Well, amen to that. Except that now I want cookies, too, but they'd have to be kosher, and I doubt Jen could manage that. Unless she came over and used my oven, and even then I wouldn't be able to eat them with milk, 'cause the oven's designated for use with meat products. I use a toaster oven for dairy, but you can't really make cookies in a toaster oven...

Oh, well. Cookies are overrated, anyway.

Let's see... what's been going on? Well, the awards ceremony for the English Department's writing awards was this past Thursday, and it was nice. My 16-year-old sister, the writer, ended up being able to make it, although that had been in doubt right down to the wire. Which was nice; it's the first time anybody in my family has been to the college, not including times my mother dropped me off there.

It turns out that I won two prizes, incidentally; the second was for my column in the college paper again. Which is very nice.

What else has been going on? I'm not even sure offhand. Classes are back in session, there are a couple more weeks to go in the semester, and things are generally nuts. But there's a light at the end of the tunnel, at least, as the semester is coming to a close, after which my schedule becomes a bit less insane. So if the rest of this month doesn't kill me, I should be okay.

I know there's more stuff I planned to write about, but I don't remember what it was offhand, and I probably oughta wrap this up, as I need to depart for college shortly. So this will do for now. Sorry about the delay, and with any luck, I'll get this journal back on track.
