angst = Shusu's favorite drug... aka dark, depressing
AU = alternate universe, or does not follow canon timeline
canon = the original show's timeline
citrus = general term for sexual situations, usually milder (see lemon and lime)
deathfic = fic with death of a major character
june (joo-nay) = general category for shonen-ai and yaoi (not used widely)
hentai / ecchi = perverted, usually sexual; a pervert
het = heterosexual. yup, there are warnings for these!
lemon = graphic sex!
lime = less graphic sexual situations (term not used here) NCS = non-consensual sex; rape
OOC = out of character
PWP = "Plot? What Plot?"; sex for the hell of it
RL = "real life"; just a Shusu term
shonen-ai = "boy love"; milder romantic situations
songfic = a fic with song lyrics woven in
squick = nasty icky yuck.. . if it squicks a hentai, beware
yaoi = male/male sex; in American sites, refers to general category yuri = female/female sex
Kaisaku! I'd put it in my sig if I used one... I have two all-time favorite Gundam Wing fic series. Both stick to canon characterizations, but insert their own plot twists and make you care even more for the characters. Surprise, surprise, they're both full of angst, action, hot lemons... and they've both passed novella length a long time ago.
Christine's "Dangerous Liaisons" and "More Dangerous Liaisons." Quintuple angst warning on this! I made the mistake of reading some of this in marathon sessions and had to bite my pillow to keep from whimpering too much. Christine makes you believe the bizarre is ordinary, and that maybe, just maybe, doomed love is possible...
Laekin's "Companions of Fate" arc. Along with Bonnejeanne, a fantastic author in her own right, Laekin has successfully combined GW canon with the basic premise of yaoi fan fic. Masterful characterizations enhance a plot that's so kick-ass cool they could animate another sequel out of it. Again, don't attempt this in marathon sessions... just let the love sink in...
